The manager of Donyi Polo Tea Estate Manuj Kumar, in his presentation delivered on “drought management in tea cultivation”. He said that deficit rainfall for the last few years badly affected tea leave production in the region.

and management of tea garden in hilly areas of Arunachal. Sharing his experience
on production of Green Tea and Orthodox Tea, he suggested the tea growers to produce
quality tea to compete the present tea market. A Japanese successful tea planter,
Niroku Muramatsu, who is on a trail of visit tea gardens in Assam and Arunachal also
participated in the workshop. He shared his field experience in quality Green Tea
production. Niroku has grown tea plants in a 10 hectare area in Shizuoka in Japan
and having production of 1.5 tonne per annum. His Green tea is being sold at Rs 24,000

It is worth mentioning here that the Japanese government wishing to create export of red tea, which seemed to have a huge global demand, sent Motokichi Tada, father of black tea cultivation in Japan, to China and India (Darjeeling and Assam) on an official mission from 1875 to 1877. Motokichi Tada in turn traveled the precarious paths in to the remote parts of Asia to learn the technology to produce red tea for the first time in 1881 and started to propagate it throughout Japan.
After liberalization of import of red tea into Japan in 1971, production of red tea has decreased considerably.
However, concerned about the decay in the red tea industry, Niroku Muramatsu from

AAPSU promotes peace & harmony
ITANAGAR, April 03: Promoting peace and communal harmony across the state, a team of All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) led by its vice president Happy Toko went on to preach peace and communal harmony among the communities in Lower Subansiri district recently. During its peace and harmony campaign, the apex student felt that mistrust among the tribes in the Arunachal Pradesh is widening the communal line.
Speaking on the occasion Happy said that individual and community must rise above hatred and jealousy, so that communal discord disappeared. AAPSU also felt that to achieve peace and communal harmony in the society, the concerted efforts and support from every community is needed.

Between God and Me, When the Mist is Lifted, And Silently the Drums Wait and Ane Ge Nyode are some of the notable films among many in which Ghosh worked as assistant cameraman and sound recordist.
CCRD executive director Moji Riba along with Minoti Riba and other family members were inconsolable as Gopal was an indivisible member of the family as well as CCRD. Moji accompanied the family members to Laluk for the last rites.
Minister inaugurates Mangnang primary school

Established in 1967, the only educational institution in the old village was upgraded to Upper Primary school last year. The education department accorded sanction for extension of three classrooms and other structures, which was completed recently.
Addressing a public meeting at newly opened Mangnang Village Community Hall, minister Siram urged the local people to protect the school building and other properties as their own. Stating that a qualified person brings pride to entire society, he urged the teachers to be dedicated in imparting quality education to the budding students. He laid stress on development of a well defined “Teaching –Learning” process in the institution to create human resources from the rural area.
Responding a memorandum submitted by the School Management Committee, the minister assured to grant necessary fund for construction of boundary wall around the school premise and construction of teacher’s hostel inside it. He suggested the student to take science and technical education to ensure their employment avenues in the future.
Speaking the occasion, BJP MLA Tangor Tapak urged the people to work in united for their overall development. He suggested the villagers to move the government for having various development schemes in their village.
Earlier, the newly constructed Mangnang Community Hall was also opened by Head Gao Burah Tapor Takoh in presence of the local leaders, PRI members and Gaon Burahs from nearby villages. The hall was constructed under MP’s local Area Development fund.
The leading villagers in the meeting placed a lot of grievances and problems such as lack of road communication, education and drinking water problems and lack of flood protection measures in the paddy fields etc and pursued the minister and the local MLA to solve their problem.

Development of sustainable livelihood options blending traditional sources
ITANAGAR, April 03: Inspire Network for Environment (INE), a Delhi based NGO, along with Yuva Arunachal an NGO based at Tawang have joined their hands with Indian Army for developing a replicable sustainable livelihood model in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The model uses both traditional and modern livelihood sources for income generation of the local communities. The out of the box and innovative program has been appreciated by NABARD and they have extended the initial financial support for the same.
A medicinal plant garden which will cultivate more than 16 species of high altitude medicinal plants and a traditional healing center which will serve also as a Buddhist medicine training center for the youth in this area will be established in the first phase with support from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). Indian Army has already constructed the building which will serve as the traditional medicine training cum treatment center in the village Gomkhang 14 kms away from Tawang.
On the occasion of the inauguration of the program and the training center yesterday, Station Commander of Tawang Garrison, Brigadier J. S. Rajpurohit told that the program is another incarnation of the commitment of Indian Army to its committed efforts to improve the livelihood and standard of living of the local communities in the state. He also mentioned that majority of the people of Tawang are still depending upon the traditional system of medicine and Indian army is really grateful to be the backbone of the program supporting the propagation of Buddhist system of Medicine.
The initiative has been highly appreciated by Abhishek Dev, Deputy Commissioner, Tawang as well, who emphasized that such moves are the need of the hour. In his speech during the inaugural function at Gomkhang, President of Yuva Arunachal, Chombey Kee mentioned about the contemporary urgency of such initiatives is not only to flag the significance of Buddhist medicinal plant tradition but also to attract young professionals to this profession to maintain this as a significant practice among the Indian systems of Medicine.
The Buddhist ethnic groups of western Arunachal Pradesh have a long standing practice of Tibetan Medicine on behalf of its lineage with Tibet which is now part of China. INE has been put in touch with Topgay, a traditional healer living in the village of Gomkhang by Indian Army. The systematic way of functioning of Topgay, not only in his medical practice but also in the maintenance of nursery of high altitude medicinal plants caught the attention of INE officials during the very first visit. According to Dr. Monalisa Sen, Program Officer of INE Topgay was identified as a true conservation leader rather than a Tibetan medical practitioner. She also added that the systematic maintenance of records and medicinal plant plantation by him was decided to be taken ahead as a replicable local model even at the national level considering this as a classic case study. NABARD which is already a channel partner with INE in many developmental initiatives in Arunachal Pradesh, extended their hand to support the initiatives of Topgay and to upscale the same. Very soon plantations of more than 18 high altitude medicinal plants would be raised in the village of Gomkhang with the financial support from NABARD, which would also document the traditional cultivation practices and cost benefits of these medicinal plant species. General Manager of NABARD, Itanagar – Dr. P. Radhakrishnan, expressed his gratitude at being part of such grassroot level initiative in Arunachal Pradesh. Dr. Jayahari KM, Program Officer, INE commented that this is an effort to develop a sustainable livelihood model in the state which depends solely on local resources with a strong element of reliability in terms of concept.
The program also envisages to set up a traditional and modern handmade paper making
unit in the village of Gomkhang. Tawang is already a plastic banned area which uses
solely paper bags in all kinds of shops by order from Deputy Commissioner Tawang.
At present the paper bags are reaching at Tawang from the plains which makes them

Reservation of seats for Panchayat polls
SEPPA, April 03: Deputy Commissioner cum DEO Tope Bam under provision of Section 5, 8 and 12 of Panchayati Raj (Delimitation of constituencies and reservation of seats for women) Rules, 2012, has determined the 33% reserved seats for women from GP, AS and ZP in East Kameng district by drawing lottery at Kameng Hall here yesterday.
The 33% reserved seats for women were determined out of 456 GPM seats, 139 AS and 14 ZPM seats. Administrative officers, HODs, PR members, representative of political parties and public of East Kameng were present on the occasion.
The total numbers of voters as of now are 45,953 under 142 polling stations in East Kameng.
Meanwhile DC held a preliminary meeting with administrative officers and police in his office chamber today in order to share experiences and views to go ahead for successful conduct of the forthcoming PR elections. He urged the administrative officers to ensure that the forthcoming election is held tactfully maintaining complete teamwork among ROs and AROs. He also directed them to ensure that Govt. officers and staffs stay at the station and not to recommend grant of leave other than exceptional unavoidable circumstances. Further they were advised to conduct peace awareness campaigns among the masses within their jurisdictions with help of PRI members and GBs of the respective village.

Calling for ambitious new goals to help the most vulnerable, World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim has outlined a bold agenda for the global community toward ending extreme poverty by 2030 and promoting shared prosperity to boost the incomes of the poorest 40 per cent of the population in each country.

an increasingly favorable economic outlook combine to give developing countries a
chance -
Speaking in advance of the upcoming World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings, Kim observed that developing economies rebounded quickly from the crisis and are now in a fundamentally sound position, thanks to greater macroeconomic stability, a stronger rule of law, and increased investments in human capital and infrastructure. Productivity growth in the private sector, the source of 90 per cent of all jobs, is high.
Kim noted that the first Millennium Development Goal (MDG), to halve extreme poverty, was achieved in 2010, five years ahead of time, after developing countries spent years investing in social safety nets and working hard to build the fiscal space and create the macroeconomic buffers to respond effectively if a crisis hit.
To achieve the more difficult goal of virtually eliminating extreme poverty, Kim
described three factors necessary: First, to reach the goal by 2030 will require
an acceleration of the growth rate observed over the past 15 years, and in particular
sustained high growth in South Asia and Sub-
Second, it will require efforts to enhance inclusiveness and curb inequality, and
ensure that growth translates into poverty reduction, most importantly through job
